Felipe Neri may have been involved in the Villasur Expedition of 1720, when the New Mexicans went to the plains of the Midwest to meet the encroaching French in battle, though there are conflicting reports on this subject.

In 1727, Felipe Neri and his siblings filed suit against Sebastian Martin to recover properties. They alleged that back in 1707, while they were still minors, Sebastian had coerced their mother Josefa or had conspired with her to take possession of lands rightfully belonging to them as heirs of Antonio. They won the suit and were given a portion of the grant bounded by San Juan Pueblo.

Age 42

The records reflect that he was baptized on August 28, 1744 (San Juan de los Caballeros Baptsims). The late baptism, we believe, is due to the lack of either a priest or church in the area. The main reason for this belief is that Agustin is listed as the Governor of Pueblo of San Tomas in the Abiqui census of 1790. At that time he is listed as being 60 years old, which means he was born in 1730.
