About Floresto Cabiao
Floresto "Lorie" Cabiao enlisted in the 26th Cavalry Regiment of the Philippine Scouts on 16 February 1941 in Fort Stotsenburg, Now Clark Airbase in Pampanga, Philippines. In April 1942, he was among those who participated in the Bataan Death March and was incarcerated at Camp O'Donnell in Capas, Tarlac. He escaped with three friends and walked home for 32 days. He was recaptured and incarcerated at the POW camp in Bayombong, Nueva Viscaya, Philippines. He was released on 22 December 1942 and joined a guerilla unit. He later joined the US Army, fought in the Korean War and retired after 21 years as a Staff Sergeant. After retirement, he was a chef at the Olympia Oyster House for many years.
