Floriano R. Castaneda, Sr. served with the Intelligence Section, 3rd Batallion, 45th Infantry of the Philippine Scouts during the Bataan Campaign. He participated in the Death March and was a POW at Camp O’Donnell in Capas, Tarlac, Philippines. He served with the Philippine Scouts until 1947; then with the United States Navy from 1952 to 1956. During his military service he was awarded two bronze stars. Floriano was retired in Kanoehe, Hawaii at the time of his death.
