"Home meetings in the Old Fort were frequently held. On Saturday, Dec. 25, 1847, Eliza R. Snow records in her journal that she attended a Christmas party at the home of Lorenzo Dow Young. The following were present: Father John Young and President John Smith and wife and Jedediah M. Grant. After a splendid dinner at which they freely and sociably partook of the good things of the earth, Father John Smith blessed the babe of Sister Young; Eliza R. Snow acting as scribe. Brother Jedediah M. Grant then dedicated the house to the Lord." From Our Pioneer Heritage, Volume 17: The Old Fort, "The First Christmas in the Old Fort"
