Francis Henry Eastick enlisted for the First World War at Ararat Victoria at the age of 36. He listed his younger sister - Lily Celia Eastick of Lake Bolac as his next of kin. Francis's address was also at Lake Bolac where another of his younger brother's - William Robert Eastick was living. Francis was a driver with the 14th Battalion & embarked from Melbourne on board HMAT a38 "Ulysses" on 22 Dec 1914. Francis Returned to Australia in 1916 suffering from Chronic Bronchitis. Francis returned to the 4th Machine Gun Battalion and finally was discharged on the 13 March 1918.
Francis Henry Eastick's occupation was listed as a "Farm Labourer" on his enlistment in 1914. Later at the time of his wedding he was listed as a "Farmer" at Mininera near Ararat in 1923. Later Francis became a "Postal Worker".
