About Francisco Chinco Mercado
Francisco Chinco Mercado was named after a mestizo Friar (Francisco) known for his botanical studies and after an honest Spanish encomiendero (Mercado) who lived in the region.
Francisco became an influential man in Biñan. He can be considered rich based on the large number of carabaos he owned. He was made alcalde in 1763. Being immersed in politics, he often shuttled between Cavite, Laguna and Manila.
