About Frans Knobel

He (Philip Knobel) left 3 children:- 1. Frans, died as ‘Amtman’ in Neukirchen in Kurhessen . He had married and had only one daughter, who died early. 2. Amalie, married to Dr. König, had 2 children:- a. Franz König, Professor of Surgery in Göttingen, (very clever and renowned); b. Elise König, married Revd Dr. Heuser in Hanau. 3. Elonore Knobel, married O’ Gleim, who in 1850-51 wrote to his uncle, J. B. C. K., in the Cape, being then Ober-Appelationsrath in Cassel:- His son Wilhelm has a high position in “the Ministerium of Railways in Berlin, and his old Father lives with him” (1888).
In 1850-51, Ober-Appelationsrath O. Gleim writes twice to J. B. C. Knobel, from Cassel:- “… Formerly my Brother-in-law, Frans Knobel, had the management of the matter, but by his removal to Neukirchen and subsequent death, I have been appointed to act, … .
