

ROSE, Fred Edward
VIRGINIA BEACH, VA. - Fred Edward ROSE, 76, died Sunday at his residence.
Mr. Rose was born in Engelhard. He was the son if the late Johnnie and
Dezzie Armstrong Rose. He had retired from J.C. Jones Sand Company as a
dredger operator. Mr. Rose served in the Merchant Marines during World War
II. He later worked on the Chesapeake Bay Bridge Tunnel. Survivors include
his wife Carol Rose; five daughters: Rose Marie Bunch of Elizabeth City,
Annie Lee Brickhouse of Columbia, Patsy Weeks of Elizabeth City, Regina
Kraemer of Chesapeake, Va., and Marilyn Simpson of Virginia Beach; two
sons: Edward Dean Rose of Decatur, Ala., and Fred Edward Rose, Jr. of
Virginia Beach; four sisters: Rosalee Patrick and Dezzie Rose, both of
Washington, Gretchel Sawyer of Pinetown, and Virgie Bateman of Columbia;
four brothers: Rufus Rose of Blandenboro and John Rose, Jack Rose and
Melvin Rose, all of Columbia; 19 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
A graveside service was held at Meadowbrook Memorial Gardens Wednesday by
the Rev. Desi Allen. Oman Funeral Home, Great Bridge, is handling
