The First Confirmed Super-Centenarian (110+ years) of all time. He outlived all 12 of his children by over 13 years. He became the oldest man on record on 8 January 1897, surpassing Pierre Darcourt. Boomgaard became the oldest person on record on 10 April 1898, surpassing Kirsti Skagen. A few years after his death, Margaret Ann Neve overtook him as oldest person record. However, his record as oldest man was not overtaken for another 67 years, when John Mosely Turner overtook him. Also considered by some to be the oldest surviving member of Napoleon's Army.
