NINA LEVI VITALE

GEMMA VITALE SERVADIO

Be appalled at this, O Heavens, and shudder with great horror / Jeremiah 2-12

IN MEMORY OF THE TURINESE JEWS

VICTIMS OF THE NEOFASCIST PERSECUTIONS

September 1943-May 1945

Savagely torn from our loved ones, from our most valued possessions, innocent victims of a monstrous crime, we do not damn, we speak no evil. As we were dying we invoked the God of our fathers, in Him we trust for fraternal understanding and enduring restoration of the right to faith, liberty and life.

Jewish Cemetery in Ancona (Italy): Epigraph in memory of Gemma Vitale Servadio on the tombstone which marks the grave reserved for her, next to her husband, Cavour Servadio.

But the grave is empty.

Not here, the mortal remains of GEMMA VITALE SERVADIO, but far away, dispersed, confused among the horrors of the Auschwitz extermination camps.

In eternal accusation of such a tragedy for the human race and for the family, in memory of the one who embodied the noblest attributes of motherhood, Lucia, Luciano, Lucio, Luxardo, Luchino dedicate this stone with sorrowful devotion and tender affection.
