About Genevieve Marie Humbert

Genevieve is her correct name, from vital record sources. I changed it here from Genevive, which was copied in error from an old 1997 web page.

Genevieve was severely brain damaged from birth or infancy, and was institutionalized in Sonoma State Home as an adult, as she reportedly became violent. However, her sad, early death was attributed in part to chronic epilepsy. So there simply may not have been much help, or knowledge, for her condition at the time.

The Oakland City Directory shows a Genevieve Humbert in 1932 living at 2174 Bush, and working as a machine operator. But no other such entries have been found, and so this mysterious possible connection to our Humbert family remains unproven. [entry by Steven Mix, 2012]
