About George Pigot, Jnr

Only son of Major George Pigot; mother unknown.

20 January 1817 - commissioned a Lieutenant of Seniority in the Royal Navy; served in 'Leveret' with the squadron guarding Napoleon on St Helena from May 1818 until early February 1819; served in 'Cyrene' on the West African coast from February 1822 until May 1823; transferred to 'Algerine', a ten-gun brig under Commander Charles Wemyss, operating among the Greek islands suppressing piracy. The vessel capsized in a squall, 9 January 1826, and all hands were lost.
