First Settler to Lebanon, Connecticut

Here is an excerpt from Find A Grave,

"Son of Thomas Webster and Abigail Alexander. Husband of Sarah Bliss, he married her on December 10, 1695 in Springfield, Hampden Co., Massachusetts. He and his wife are th parents of 13 children. George Webster was the first settlers of Lebanon, New London Co., CT. George Webster resided at Springfield, Mass. On April 11th, 1694, at a town meeting, permission was granted him to use pine trees for turpentine, in the manufacture of Resin for a period of four years. He removed to Lebanon , Ct., George Webster was one of the first settlers of Le- banon, New London Co., Conn. About 1699 the original proprietors set off to him a "home lot," bounded north-west by the land of John Webster. Other tracts were set off to him in 1700 and 1701, and still another which was recorded April 23, 1718. He was in Lebanon as early as 1705. He died intestate, April 12,1721, aged 50 years, 5 months and 5 days and his widow was granted letters of administration, July 4, 1721."

On December 13, 1695, he married Sarah Bliss (b. Sept. 10, 1677), daughter of Samuel Bliss (b. abt. 1642, d. March 23, 1720) and Mary Leonard (b. Sept. 14, 1647, d. March 11, 1723). George Webster was one of the first settlers of Lebanon, New London County, CT. About 1699, the original proprietors set off to him a "home lot," bounded northwest by the land of John Webster. Other tracts were set off to him in 1700 and 1701, and still another which was recorded April 23, 1718. He was in Lebanon as early as 1705. He died intestate on April 12, 1721, and his widow was granted letters of administration on July 4, 1721. He is buried in Trumbull Cemetery (also known as the Old Cemetery) in Lebanon.
