    Rev. John K. Barkey and Susannah G. Buzzard were Mennonite. Rev. John K. Barkey was Farmer, carpenter, cooper, shoemaker, miller. "John Barkey was married to Susannah Buzzard. His date of ordination has been lost. ... On their two marble grave markers in the Longenecker cemetery one finds interesting symbolism that suggests he was a minister. At the top of the marker of John's grave is carved a hand on top of an open Bible. On Susannah's stone, at the bottom, was carved a hand holding the Bible. A minister was considered the teacher or minister of the Word. In his case the hand on the open Bible symbolizes him as one who expounded the Word. In her case she supports the Bible, or undergirds the preaching of the Word, which task only her husband would have been permitted to perform."1 He and Susannah G. Buzzard had 15 children. Rev. John K. Barkey was born on 25 August 1781 at Franconia, PA, US. He was the son of Christian Bergie and Gertrude Z. Kolb. Rev. John K. Barkey lived in 1827 at OH, US. He was ordained circa 1830.2 He died on 30 October 1860 at Wineberg, OH, US, at age 79. He was buried after 30 October 1860 at Longenecker Mennonite Cemetery, OH, US.3

from the "Berkey Book" (by Ruth Berkey Reichley) According to the book, your Jacob K. Berkey is listed in "Line 4" of Berkey folks.

The initial entry lists a Christian BERKEY, b.1758; d.1828 who married a Gertrude KOLB /KULP. She died in 1840. The book mentins most of this line live(d) in Ohio. Chrisitan was a native of PA. (The book recommends a reference to "Kulp History" p.152) Christian's family was 5 sons & 4 daughters. They were:

• Jacob (1793-1880) m. Mary KOPPES (parents of Jacob K.);
• Issac---never married; was crippled; a shoemaker;
• Catherine---never married; lived with brother, Issac;
