Giovanni Girolamo II Acquaviva d'Aragona (1663-1709), eldest son of Josiah III, arcade and eclectic student of geography, mathematics and history, from Crescimbeni remembered as one of the most interesting poets of the time, was awarded the Golden Fleece and recognition of the grandee of the first class. His brother Michael Thomas (1676-1720) and was Knight Commander of the Order of Alcantara, as well as captain of the bodyguards of the king of Spain, Philip V.
