Gladdus married Harry Temle Fay Davis on October 20, 1894 in Marysville, Kansas. She had one sister, Stella(Lillie) Reynolds. Stella's son was Perlie Renolds and daughter was Dollie Ellis (Reynolds). Dollie's husband was Charles Ellis. She had four children: Stella, Daryll, Ronald, and one other daughter, . Ruth Vanderwagen (Nelson),, Stella's niece, states that Perlie never married, although he liked a school teacher, Nella Wagner, but Stella would feign heart attacks and other illnesses when Perlie mentioned getting married. Nella never married either. Gladdus raised canaries in her house and sold them to Hartz Mountain. She was active in the Eastern Star and President of the Cheerful Workers Club. After her husband's early death, she remained living on the farm and raised her girls on her own.She hired out the farm work. S. Elizabeth wanted to marry Theodore Melvin Nelson, a local farmer down the street, but Gladdus would not approve unless Elizabeth and Melvin lived on the farm with her and Melvin agreed to farm her place. Gladdus, although she did not want children on the farm, grew to love Ruth Emily as her own after she was born to Melvin and Elizabeth. They had no more children.
