To the spirits of the dead; Grapte, secretary of Egnatia Maximilla; Gaius Egnatius Arogus dedicated this to his very dear wife.
- Egnatia Maximilla was the wife of Glitius Gallus, one of the people banished following the conspiracy of Calpurnius Piso against Nero. Tacitus (Ann. 15.71) mentions that she was very rich, but that her fortune was confiscated after she accompanied her husband into exile.
- Grapte’s husband’s name indicates that he is a freedman of the Egnatius family, the same household to which Grapte belongs.
