Anselme calls him "seigneur de Coligny et du païs de Revermont". Schwennicke calls him "seigneur de Coligny et Saint-André-sur-Suran".
He took the cross during the Second Crusade. He was one of the lords of Burgundy who accompanied the Emperor Konrad III (Anselme says Konrad II) to the Holy Land in 1147.
In 1161, he "made an offensive and defensive league with Archambaud, Sire de Bourbon and Renaud, Sire de Beaugey.
He died shortly after.
