About Guillaume Tonnelier

Guillaum Tonnelier/Tunnelier's name became Anglicized to William Tunnell/Tunnel. (Various spellings in different records). Record in the 1600's seem to use the French name, in the 1700's the change is noted.

Guillaum (Sr.) & Julienne or Helnne (Preaine) Tonnelier were married c. 1700 in France.

According to descendant Nancy M. C. Brown of TX, Guillaume and his wife fled by rowboat from France to England with their first child, Guillaume Jr., who later became William Tunnell. [They must have been Hugenot (French Protestants), escaping the threat of death under the Catholic government of France.] They ended up in northern England, in Yorkshire.
