• It is said that Schattinger was the original mode of spelling the name, but it is now spelled Shattinger and Shaddinger, by the descendants.

+ Hans George Shaddinger, according to the tradition of the family was a native of Wittenburgh, Germany. Emigrated to America in the ship Patience from Rotterdam, last from, Cowes. Arrived Sept. 17, 1753. Taught school at Deep Bun. Had rent free for taking care of the Mennonite meeting-house. Children: Abraham, John, Andrew, Elizabeth, (mrd. Tinsman) and other daughters.
