Harry Temple Fay Davis had two sisters. I did not include them on Geni as I was trying to keep our direct lineage clear. His sisters are as follows: Minnie Florence (Davis) Ladd, wife of James Ladd and Nellie Louise Davis. Both sisters were very active in the Elizabeth Montague chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution. Their National Number is 36853. Minnie painted china ware as a hobby. Dates of birth are not known. He also had a sister named Flora that died at age 8 a short time before moving to Nebraska.
Married October 20, 1894 at age 27. He had four daughters, Harry Hazel Patton (Davis) , Ruth Bloom (Davis), Stella Elizabeth Nelson (Davis) born 1899, and BessieFaye Thompson (Davis).
From his daughter, S. Elizabeth (Davis) Nelson's recount, as a young man Harry lived an exciting life. He was a cowboy/rancher and traveled to Kansas and perhaps elsewhere to purchase cattle or work (not clear). He was friends with Buffalo Bill Cody and had one of Bill's silver bullets. One time, he rescued a lady from a wild bull and an appreciative husband gave Harry a riffle with a thank you note bore inside the butt of the riffle. The note is as follows. Dated "'December 21, 1886 from Gordon City, Kansas. Presented to Harry Davis or better known to the Southwest as Uncle Pete for saving the life of my wife from death from a wild bull. Joseph Acker Gordon City, Kansas." It is still in his family line. Elizabeth also states that her first sister was actually named Harry, not Hazel, because Gladdus, their mom, bore his child without being married at the time and he apparently had another girlfriend who was also pregnant. Harry Temple Fay Davis did settle down, married Gladdus, purchased the Davis Farm homestead, and subsequently had more children later. After marriage, he learned to sew and crochet! He died of a burst appendix.
