"Burial: Carmen Cemetery, Worth Township. Henry had land in Section 11 and 12 in 1894 atlas of Sanilac in Worth Township. Was living with son Isaac in the 1900 census for Worth Township, Henry, father, b. Jan. 1827, age 73, born in Canada " from Bob Moore's document.

1 A lot of their Buddies had gone including the Macklems and Thorntons. Sanilac was the place to go in the 1850's and better farm land and pine timber. Many Canadians went. Do not know when Henry went there but before the civil war. Catharine got married at the John Macklem' s house in 1857 in Worth. Markets were available for farm produce either by boat down to Detroit or by lake road to Port Huron. Whitchurch was pretty isolated ,too far north from Toronto. Main road was Younge street now Hwy 11 and they were miles east of that. Daniel and George had moved to Scott Twp from Whitchurch do not know when. God forsaken county, now as well as then if you were trying to farm, out of the way. no towns and sand land, the cow starved to death for want of grass in July. Daniel had no real skills, other than subsistence farming as neither he nor his wife could read and write. To make things worse the Depression in Canada was deepening and those who had not left were thinking of it."
