152. Henry FUNCK was born about 1690 in Palatinate, Germany. He died in 1760 in Franconia Twp, Montgomery, PA. He was buried in Franconia Twp, Montgomery, PA. He has reference number 152. BIRTH: Born Heinrich Funck in either Holland or Palatinate Abt 1690

IMMIGRATION: Arrived in Philadelphia by 1718, lived in Germantown and, in 1719 settled at Indian Creek, Franconia Twp, Montgomery Co. PA. Said to have arrived with best friend Dielman Kolb, who landed 10 Aug 1717. Often confused with another Heinnrich Funk who arrived in 1717 and settled in Lancaster Co, PA. (See Francis Funk pp. 16-20)

LAND: 20 Dec 1718 land warrant to Heinrich Funck of Germantown for 101 3/4 acres on a branch of Perkeawming Creek. Later buys adjoining tracts. Total 201 acres. Also 166 acres "of ye Mannor Lands on ye upper part of a branch of Perkyoming", prob part of Perkasie Manor, Hilltown Twp, Bucks Co, PA willed to son Henry.

PROBATE: Will filed in Philadelphia in Will No. 274, S427 dated 13 June 1759. Translated in A.J. Fretz pp. 13-20 and Frances Funck pp. 41-47

OCCUPATION: First Mennonite Bishop in America; religious author and, translator, operated grist mill on Indian Creek, Franconia Twp, PA

BURIAL: Delps Cemetary. Franconia Twp. This was the orignal Funk burying ground. Stone marker erected for Bishop Funk. Near Bucks Co line near Telford, PA

LAND: Will dated 13 Aug 1807, recorded 17 Oct 1807 Doylestown, PA, Will Book 7:290 (Francis Funk p.47) wills residence and 100a to son-in-law John Kolb for 750 pounds to be paid to named children (A. J. Fretz p.21)

BIRTH-MARRIAGE-CONFLICT: Richard Hott, Hott Ancestors p.131 has as b. 1724 m. Nancy Shank lived in Franklin Co, PA, says had 12 children. Frances Funk p.47 has m. Barbara, dau. of Henry and Barbary Wismer. A.J Fretz does not name spouse and names seven children from will.

purchased remainder of Bishop Funck homestead and mill from brother Abraham. Conveyed 241a, 51p and mill, etc. on 29 Jul, 1794 to son-in-law John Detweiler Mill possibly known as "Bechtel"s Mill" per Frances Funk p 47.

RELIGION-OCCUPATION: Became Mennonite minister at Franconia 1757. Split with He them during Revolutionaly War in 1774 over "oath" issue. He and brother Henry preached to group known as "Funkites." See Biographpy A.J. Fretz pp. 338-340
