• His name appears in the town records of Providence and Warwick, RI. He was one of the inhabitants of Warwick who each obtained a free grant of 25 acres of land and promised allegiance to the King. He was town clerk of Warwick in 1657 and in 1654 was a deputy to the General Court. He also served for a time as surveyor, recorder and was elected to the Town Council.
• Made his will aug 26, 1672. The will was lost or destroyed many years ago but there is a copy of the agreement of his heirs in Oyster Bay Records, Vol. 1. p 88-89. His daughters are nemed in order of their births and signed in the same order: Mary Hauxhurst, Hannah Weekes, Elizabeth Weekes, Jane Readuck, and Sarah Rudick. Christopher Hawxhurst, Samuell Weekes and Joseph Weekes signed in that order, indicating that Samuel signed as the husband of Hannah and Joseph as the husband of Elizabeth. In all previous accounts, it is erroneously stated that Samuel married Elizabeth and Joseph married Hannah.
