Obituary Akron Register-Tribune, Akron, Plymouth, Iowa, USA February 6, 1976
Herman Gerhard Haage, 76, Brunsville, died Sunday (February 1, 1976) at the Akron hospital after an illness of a month. He had lived at the Akron nursing home for 3 ½ years.
Mr. Haage was born August 16, 1889, in Preston township to Fred and Johanna Nannen Haage. He was a life-long Plymouth county resident and farmed until retiring to Brunsville in 1963.
His marriage to Elizabeth Ludwigs took place February 26, 1925, in Washington township, rural Le Mars.
He was also a lifelong member of St. John Evangelical Lutheran church in Preston township, rural Akron.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, February 3 at St. John’s church with Rev. James Sandvik officiating. Burial was in the parish cemetery under direction of the Maurer funeral home, Le Mars.
Survivors are his wife, Elizabeth of Brunsville; two daughters, Mrs. Merlin (Dorothy) Utesch, Merrill and Mrs. Norman (Lois) Varenhorst, Le Mars; seven grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren; a brother, Gert Haage, Le Mars and four sisters, Mrs. Christina Lubben, Le Mars, Mrs. Anna Meyer, Mrs. Flora Cassen, and Mrs. Hannah Borchers all of Akron.
He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers and two sisters.
