Hermanus d'Oude and Martha left the following farms in the Swellendam disctrict to their sons in the testament dated c. 1790:
- Bruintjiesfontein on the Klip river with blacksmith's shop
- Bruintjiesrivier on the Breede river with vessels and two brandy kettles (farmed here from 1743 with grain)
- 't Voorhuis on the Breede river with vessels and brandy kettle etc (first rented it, then he became the owner in 1762)
Hermanus died in 1795
In 1999, the Voorhuis farm is still owned by the Steyn family after nine generations. His son Petrus Paulus became the sole owner. The old farm house was destroyed by fire in abt 1914. Douw Steyn (1845-1926) did some repairs to the ruins and used it as an ironsmith workshop. The wine cellar remained until the nineteen thirties when it was destroyed.
