Curate St Marks, Peterborough 1876-80 & Pastor 1881-83. Rector Braden 1884-92. Organising Secretary of C.E.T.S. 1888-92. Vicar of St Marks Leicester 1892. Bishop Hicks persuaded Horace to come out to South Africa to take over the running of the St Andrews College in Bloemfontein. Emigrated to South Africa about 1894. Principal of St Andrews College, Bloemfontein 1894-1901. Certificate of Election: 21 April 1896 as Canon of Cathedral Church. Canon & Chancellor 1896-1919. The College closed in Sept 1899 at the outbreak of the Anglo-Boer War. In order to remain at the school with his family Horace had to do ambulance work. Rector of Ficksburg 1911-1919. Canon Emeritus 1919. Licensed in diocese of Cape Town 1919. Editor of Church Chronicles 1922-24. Librarian 1925-33.
