About Huldah Wheelock (Rice)

Huldah Rice (Edmund, Samuel, Edmund), daughter of Edmund Rice and Ruth Parker lived in that part of Marlborough which later became Westborough. On 8 Aug 1704 the Indians killed her brother Nahor during a raid. At the same time her brothers Timothy and Silas were kidnapped, and taken to Canada where they had children by Indian wives. Timothy, whose Indian name was Oughtsorangoughton, became the third of six chiefs of the Cognawaga tribe.

In September of 1740, Timothy returned to Westborough with an interpreter (as he had by then lost his native tongue), and viewed the place where he was captured. He had a clear remembrance of his capture, but nothing could induce him to stay in Westborough. He returned to Canada, where he and his brother Silas were still living in 1790.
