About Ilse Simon
Ilse Simon was born on March 8, 1928, in Quakenbrück, Osnabrück, Hanover, Germany, youngest daughter of the four daughters of Karl and Selma Katz Simon. Ilse, her parents, and sister Edith, were passengers on the ill-fated SS St. Louis and were sent to Holland after all their belongings had been unloaded in Havana Harbor. They were interned in Arnem and Westbork camps before their final deportation to Sobibor, Edith narrowly escaping and surviving. See http://www.readingjewishcommunity.org/local_includes/downloads/37004.pdf, p. 7, for details, as described by her sister Hildegard.
