Illuminada Mojica Tuason-Fernandez, the Miss Philippines at the 1939 Manila Carnival Queen, was only child of Rogelia Mojica of Indang, Cavite and an unnamed Tuason of Manila. Her father died early and her mother remarried Jose Rosales of Butuan, where the family owned a piano business. Jose Rosales (a direct descendant of Datu Mansibawan, royalty of Bukidnon) became an intelligence officer for the Bureau of Customs and maintained a residence in Manila at 1315 Cristomo Street, Sampaloc.
