About Isaac Galland

Isaac Galland was baptized by Joseph Smith, Jr. on July 3, 1839 in waters of Mississippi. He was the recipient of letter written by Joseph Smith, Jr. when Joseph and companions were detained in Missouri prison. He published several articles favorable to Mormonism, and was known by people in the area as the "friend of the Mormons."

He was sent on a mission with Hyrum Smith. Hyrum became ill and returned home, leaving Isaac to continue.

By 1842, Isaac Galland remained in Fort Madison until his death.

(I am the great-great-great granddaughter of Isaac Galland through his daughter, Lucinda Galland.)
