About Isaac Prouty

Isaac Prouty was born on November 18, 1689 in Scituate, Massachusetts to Richard Prouty and Elizabeth (Howe) Prouty. He was the fourth of six children by the couple, the others being James, Edward, Jonathan, Margaret, and William.

Isaac married Elizabeth Merritt on October 11, 1711 in Scituate. At least six of their surviving six sons and one daughter settled in the Leicester section of Scituate, now known as Spencer, Massachusetts. Their children were:

  • Elizabeth, b. 1713
  • Jacob, b. May 14, 1715, m. Ann Capen on December 8, 1741
  • David, b. 1716, m. Elizabeth Smith

Jacob, David, John, Adam, Isaac, Caleb, and Job were all baptized in the Second Church of Scituate on April 21, 1723.
