About Jacob Cardinaal
Jacob was mayor of Carolina in South Africa´s Cape Province. Carolina is a town situated on the Johhanesburg to Swaziland route in the province of Mpumalanga, SA. It is a mixed farming and on a small scale coal- and precious stones mining community. It was established by Cornelius Coetzee as a permanent outspan for wagons when gold was discovered in 1883 in Barberton, and named after his wife Carolina. It was rebuilt after it had been destroyed during the second Boer war. The Komati Gorge and assosciated Komati river are situated in the vicinity of Carolina. On 13/6-1939 Jacob had been interned in a prisoncamp on Ceylon.
