About Jacob Epkese
Jacobi Epkese te Bonta conform zijn handtekening in 1640.
Also appears as Jacob Epckensz. He gained the hereditary right to vote in the Landdag probably through his wife's family. Lived in an estate at Arum from marriage until after 1636, and at Boer in 1650. On 2-24-1636, the Court of Barradeel records he and his wife selling land, farmland at Minnertsga to a group from Leeuwarden representing a home for the aged and infirm. As early as 1640 Jacob was using the name 'Bonta' , signing Jacob Epkese te Bonta (at Bonta). Bonta is believed to have been derived from the farm near the Frisian Arum, in which Jacob's parents used to have their residence.
