About James Gaines, II

Revolutionary War soldier; spent 4 years in Col. William Byrd's 5th Virginia Regiment. His war service was provedn in 1780 and land warrants issued in Orange County, Virginia Court Records. He was also in the second expedition to capture Fort Desquense, proved his "head rights" to land. He was enrolled in the Orange County, Virginia Order Book, 1760.
