Migration Migrated with wife and family from England to New South Wales 1839 aboard the ship "Mary". Arrived Sydney NSW 01 December 1839. James, aged 32, gardner, literate; Eliza, aged 37, house servant, literate; John, aged 13; William, aged 8; Joseph, aged 6; Abraham, aged 5, and Henry, aged 1. The family was native of Bath, England and all Protestant.
The bounty cost for James and Eliza was 18 pounds each and the children 36 shillings in total.
Information from Death Registration Certificate James died on 15 April 1868 aged 63 years 5 months from old age. He was a clerk. His medical attendant was Dr Perry who last saw James on 12 April 1868. James' father was Thomas Lansdown, farm labourer. His mother was Jane Parfitt. The informant of his death was his son John Lansdown, Goulburn. James was buried on 17 April 1868 at the Goulburn Cemetery. The Reverend William Sowerby, Church of England, officiated at the funeral. The undertaker was George Richards and the burial was witnessed by William Lansdown, son. James was born in Wiltshire, England and had been 28 years in NSW. He married at age 22 to Eliza Darling in England. At the time of James' death he had five boys and one girl living and one boy and one girl deceased.
