Will of James Mcilroy.

In the Name of God Amen. Be it remembered That I James McIlRoy of Ninety six District in the Province of South Carolina, Being weak in Body But of a sound and disposing mind and Memory. The Lord be Praised, Therefore; and calling to mind The shortness and uncertainty of human Life, have Thought fit to make and publish this my Last Will and Testament in manner and form following. That is to Say: When it shall Please the Lord to Take me from this Transitory world I recommend my Soul to the mercy of God who gave it, and my Body to the Earth. To Be Buried in a Decent and Christianlike manner at the Discression of my Executors herein after named. And as Touching such Worldly Effects as it has Pleased the Lord to Bless me with I have Thought Proper to Dispose of it in the following manner viz. First: It is my Will and Desire that all my Lawful Debts, Doctors bill shall be first Paid and satisfied by my Executors out of my Personal Estate and the remainder Disposed of as follows: viz. Item: I give and Bequeath unto my Loving Wife Dinah The Third Part of my Personal Estate during her natural life, and in Case she shall remain my Widdow [sic] until my youngest Child shall come of age: Then all my Estate shall remain in her Possession with The Profits Thereof to Enable her to Support and Educate our helpless family and when my youngest son shall arrive at the age of Twenty one years then it is my Will that my Estate shall be Divided as herein after mentioned. But if my said Wife should Die or Marry again then my Will is that my Estate shall be Disposed of as follows in Case of her Death my other youngest shall come to the age above mentioned and if she should marry again then she shall have her Third and my other Executor shall Take our Children and The Other Two thirds under his care as follows. Item: I give and Bequeath unto my Daughter Rachel Blassingame and my daughter Frances Blassingame and my daughter Abigal Beardin and my daughter Mary Renfro and my daughter Sarah Bratcher and my daughter Comfort Cleaton and my daughter Esther Bogan and my son James The sum of one shilling sterling each To be Paid to them when my youngest son shall come to the age of Twenty one. Item: I give and Bequeath unto my son William and to his Heirs and assigns forever all my Plantation and tract of one Hundred and fifty acres of Land [word smeared or lined through] Part of a Tract of six Hundred ares which I purchased of John Didy. And Likewise my negro boy Sam and my negro wench Dinah To be Put in possession of them when his Brother shall come to the age of Twenty one years. Item: I give and Bequeath unto my daughter Ruth one Negro boy lately Born of my Negro wench Nan and to her Heirs and assigns. To be put into possession of her at the time above mentioned. Item: I give and Bequeath unto my youngest son Archibald The one Half of The remainder of my Negroes and to his Heirs and assigns and the other half to his Brother William, his Heirs and Assigns. To be Equally Divided between them with their offspring when the said Archibald shall arrive at the age of Twenty one years. And Lastly I do hereby Nominate Constitute and appoint my well-Beloved Wife Dinah and My Trusty Friend Archer Smith to be my Executors to see this my Last Will and Testaments by me heretofore made and Declaring This sheet of Paper written on oneside only to Contain my Last Will and Testament. IN WITNESS Whereof I have hereunto set my hand and affixed my seal. This Twenty second day of September in the year of our Lord one Thousand seven Hundred and Eighty James X McIlroy
