About James Alpin McPherson

Lived on Cressbrrok Station in the Brisbane Valley after emigrating with parents from Scotland. Became an apprentice builder to John Petrie.

From 1863-1866 roamed wide area of QLD holding up mailmen. On 30 March 1866 was captured at Monduran Station. He was then tried at Assizes at Maryborough on 13 Sep 1866 where he was sentenced to 25 years in jail. He was released after 8 years.

4 years later married a 17yo german girl, and they had 7 childer (1 died during infancy). They were raised at Hughenden before movign to Burketown.

Only 2 children married.

1 son, James Ossian, was killed by aborigines in Cooktown in Feb 1911.
