About James Murray Grant, Col. D.S.O., O.B.E.

I am doing some correcting.

My family tree, in this James Murray Grant's own handwriting, lists him as Lieutenant Colonel. However he was later promoted full Colonel. He was D.S.O., O.B.E., same as his father, General Ronald Charles Grant. He spent his career in the Seaforth Highlanders, decorated for his action at St. Valery. His uncle of the same name (Colonel James Murray Grant) was with the CMR (Cape Mounted Rifles). His grandfather of the same name was FAMR later renamed CMR.

Because of the multitude of James Murray Grants, since the name has been passed on, even unto the sixth generation (my 1st cousin once removed, James Murray Grant, is currently at university in Washington D.C.), the honours and regiments tend to get mixed up between them. I have corrected some.

I can write to Captain James Murray Grant or his sister Alison Goodbody, née Grant, if there are unanswered questions.
