===================

There is at least one record of a KENYON family living near Nelson in the 1860s:

Nelson Evening Mail
August --- 1868
births:
KENYON, 25 Aug, at Dovedale, Mrs H Kenyon, a daughter

==================
Emigration date included in J T Norcross military record.

================================

From a granddaughter of Frederick:

The family in Preston, Lancashire were,
Thomas Norcross, wood merchant
his wife Alice Elizabeth (nee Kenyon)
Their children at the time they left:

John, who went to America and was your ancestor.

Those who came to New Zealand in stages:

David, with his wife Sarah and three daughters
Elizabeth, with her husband Tom Gardner and at least two of their children
Margaret, with her husband Jack Hartley, no children
Tom, single, wood merchant/music teacher. Killed in World War 1
Mary, who died at about 21
Alice, who was the mother of Tommy Dunn, Linda Schrom"s father-in-law
Frederick, who was my grandfather.

I believe the three youngest came out with their widowed mother after the others were established here.

SOCIAL EVENING.
Colonist, Volume LII, Issue 12901, 19 September 1910, Page 2

The Druids will hold their, usual meeting this evening at 7:30 and the ordinary business will be followed by an initiation ceremony at 8, and the evening will conclude with harmony and refreshments. At the last meeting, which was attended by: Grand Sec Bro J. N. Grant and a large number of members, a very attractive programme was presented, consisting of songs, instrumental solos and recitations amongst which Bro T. Cole's bassoon song was highly appreciated. The accompaniments were played by Bro T .Norcross, who has been appointed musical conductor for the Lodge. The future concerts and socials are being arranged for by a committee, to act in conjunction with Bro Norcross and it is expected that the Lodge room will be filled, on each occasion.
