About James Overton, Jr.

CAPTAIN JAMES OVERTON, JR. born 1726 died in 1816 (Will in Louisa Co.) married 1751 Mary daughter of Colonel John Waller and his wife Agnes Carr, born in 1730 and died in 1816. They lived at the Overton Plantation, Brookeville; he was sheriff of Louisa County in 1776, and was an officer in the louisa County Militia. They had ten children.

Captain James Overton (ca. 1726/1730–1816) of Louisa County entered an agreement with John Claybrooke (ca. 1770–1852), his son-in-law, to manage Overton's plantation, Brookeville. Overton promised to provide Claybrooke with the profit from the plantation's operations, after deducting the necessary taxes and other expenses the family might incur. Claybrooke married Sally Overton (1773–1820) in 1789 and lived in Hanover County, but later relocated to Brookeville. Claybrooke purchased the farm after Overton's death. -------------------- http://byrnefamily.net/genealogy/pedigreetext.php?personID=I08658&tree=Garland&generations=
