DNA testing has disproven any connection to Edward Riggs, IV
Children in will order:[41]
- JAMES2 RIGGS, born say 1699–1712, perhaps in England but more likely in Maryland, married MARY ELLIS, and had eight children.
- JOHN2 RIGGS.[42] He is listed in his father’s will of 21 Aug. 1744, Prince George’s Co., Md.
- EDMOND/EDMUND2 RIGGS, born 17— say 1715, married (1) MARY BROOKE, and had at least one child, married (2) RUTH SUMMERS, and had seven children.
- SARAH2 RIGGS, “who, it is believed, was identical with Sarah Riggs, born in 1726, and living in Lower Potomac Hundred, Frederick County, Maryland, in 1776, when a census was taken.”[45] 1726 seems to be out of range for the children here, especially if she is older than Jane, as the will order implies.
- JANE2 RIGGS, married[46] JOHN CRAMPHIN. There is a Jeane Cramphin, 66, in the 1776 census of the Lower Potomac Hundred, Frederick Co., Md., who would thus have been born about 1710.[47]
If so, she is out of birth order (cf. Sarah). There was a John Cramphin who immigrated to Maryland in 1742.[48]
Military service in the French and Indian War as a ranger.
