About James Venable
Judith Morton, born December 27,1739, in Charlotte county was married about 1757 to James Venable, son of Abraham Venable and Martha Davis. He was born in 1734 in Hanover County. After his marriage, he settled in Charlotte and in 1769 was justice of the peace in that county, was an elder in Briery Presbyterian Church, and was trustee of Hampden Sidney College in 1775 to 1795. He moved to Shelby county, Kentucky in 1796 and was an elder there in Mulberry Presbyterian Church. He died in 1814 on his farm in Shelby county, Kentucky, and is buried there. His will, dated August 28, 1812, is recorded in Shelbyville, Kentucky..
