About James I Stewart, King of Scots

'*James I, King of Scots (Scottish Gaelic: Seumas I Stiùbhairt) was born probably in late July, 1394 in Dunfermline (Scottish Gaelic: Dùn Phàrlain) Palace, Fife, Scotland [1] and died 21 February 1437 at the Monastary of the Friars Preachers, Perth, Perthshire, Scotland, murdered by his uncle, Walter Stuart, Earl of Atholl. [2] He was buried in the Perth Charterhouse. [3] He was a member of the House of Stuart, the Ruling house of the Kingdom of Scotland from 1371–1649. [4]

  • Became Duke of Rothesay 10 Dec 1404 after receiving from his father all lands belonging to the office of Steward of Scotland. He succeeded his father in 1406 as James I, King of Scots (Jacobum regem). [5]
