Notes:
On 30th January 1719 he was apprenticed to Jochem Creeft for a period of 7 years to learn the saddlemaker's craft, but the contract, signed between Robbert Jansz van Hoorn and Jochem Creeft, was cancelled on the 1st September 1721 by mutual agreement, reasons not stated. (CJ 2878, 186)
When he died only two of their children were still living, Anna Catharina Robbertsz married to the burger Daniel Rooden, and Johannes Hendrik Robbertsz aged 14 years. (MOOC 8/9, 46)
In the opgaaf return of 1745 they listed 1 son and 4 daughters, but the smallpox epidemic of 1755 had intervened and had hit the residents of Cape Town itself particularly hard.

The baptism entry for the date given for Jan, 28/5/1696, at Drakenstein, doesn't give the name of the child:
NGK Drakenstein
Lannee 1696 le 28' may il y'a eut un Enfant Baptize du beaufils de Wellem Escalk Van den Merven
Translation: In the year 1696, the 28th May there was baptized a child of the son-in-law of Wellem Escalk van den Merven
- Drakenstein Doopboek on http://eggsa.org/sarecords/index.php/church-registers/drakenstein-french-baptisms-1694-1713
His supposed mother, Sophia, had just baptized Roelofje Pasman on 27 September 1695 at Stellenbosch, and had married Peter Robbertsz only on 25 January 1696.
I want to suggest that this baptism was not that of Sophia's child, but the child of Sophia's sister, Marritje Schalck Willemsz and Berndt Burcherdt, namely Andries Burger, http://www.geni.com/people/Andries-Burger/6000000004211150978?through=6000000003169404785 for whom no baptism entry has yet been found, especially in light of the fact that Peter Robbertsz doesn't mention a son Jan in his will. - JS
