Jane's surname is purely speculative, based on the daughter Elizabeth HARDAWAY Short......and is aided by the fact that a Thomas Hardaway married a Jane Stith of that area....the name JANE was not in common usage at that time....the link is VERY tenuous and is not intended to anything other than an potential link....
