John Fosh (originally Jean Fouache) born about 1703 definitely existed, in fact he is my ancestor and the ancestor of every Fosh who seems to exist. Although I started researching him in the late 1980’s, none of us researching Fosh can identify his parents with any certainty at all. It could be Jacque Fouache born about 1685 but it looks unlikely, it could be Jacques Fouache born about 1670 but it looks unlikely, it could be Jean Fouache born about 1665 but it looks unlikely, it could be Jean Fouache born about 1670 which really is a possible, it could be Jean Fouache born about 1685 but it looks unlikely, it could be Thomas Fouache born about 1680 but it looks impossible, it could be somebody whose surname was Fouace and I have a list of those too. However, what I am sure about is that John Fosh is not the son of David (Fauche) Fouché as apparently Miranda Bruwer states. The children of David & Marthe are Jean bap 1696, Elizabeth Faucher bap 1699, Marthe Faucher bap 1701, Ester Fouchet bap 1701, Suzanne Foucheé bap 1705 and Jean Faucher bap 1707 – no doubt the younger Jean died. I have checked every baptism against the church records.
