A leather dresser, also a merchant. A Huguenot, he immigrated dfrom France to England about 1682, thence to New York about 1687. He was naturalized in 1687. Jean's first wife was his cousin Anne Vincent who. They wern't happy together. Jean went back to Europe where he met Susanne Nuquerque. They fell in love and he took her took her to the "New World' with him. He stayed married to Anne at the same time. It wasn't until Anne died that Jean and Susanna married. Jean & Susanne's first son Levi was born in France. In America they and another son who was named Jean Jr. Jean had a brother Francois and a sister named Madeleine (car)
