About Jesse Andrews (Anders)

According to Joe Hunter Jesse came to Tenn. in 1865 from Community in SC called Oil Camp. (Oil Camp is located in Greenville Co., SC---Oil Camp Post Office Established: 12-2-1859 ; David Cavenport, Postmaster; Discontinued Sept. 25, 1866. This office was continued in the old Davenport Hotel, a summering spot about three miles from River Falls and a short distance at that time, from a highway, and near the junction that is now Highway #97. The building is no longer in existence. Legend has it that the name of this office was derived from the fact that in early days there was an Indian camp near the mountains and the Indians brought bear, deer, and wild hogs to the camp to reduce their fat to oil, and because of the oily condition in the area where the Indians boiled the animal fat, it became known as "Oil Camp Road" Source: Robert J. Quinn <rquinn@midusa.net> )

Jesse Anders sold 250 acres of land to Joseph Davis for $100.00 in Spartanbug Co., Sc in Feb. 1877.

Deed book 7, page 627 Lindsey Anders as attorney for the estate deeded 164 acres to Jesse Anderes in 1862. This was located on Bob's Creek which runs from the Green River/Texedo area into Greenville Co., SC.

Note: I believe Jesse was in the process of moving to Henderson Co. during 1860, that is the reason he is found in both census. Also Peters estate records are dated 1860. Jesse may have moved to the Green River area because of his fathers death.
