Joachim Petrus Marnewick and his brother, Abraham Andries Stephanus Marnewick, both fought in Egypt during the second World War. Joachim lost his life when he fell down a Pyramid during combat. He is buried in Egypt.
His death notice can be found in the Pretoria Archives TAB no 2912/43.
A note on the death notice says:
S A Army Postal Corps. Was killed as a result of falling off a Pyramid while serving with the Union Defence Forces on 5/5/1943 in the Middle East.
His last place of residence were: 51 Fredstreet, Regents Park, Johannesburg South Africa.
